It dates back to the Hellenistic period. Antiochus IV had become king over the Hellenistic Syrian Kingdom. He reigned from 175 – 164 B.C.E. Antiochus had orders sent out that every person in his empire was to serve the Grecian gods and become Greek.

In addition there is a place for a ninth candle, the shamash (the servant). The shamash is used to light the other candles. One candle is lit each day of the festival, until all eight are burning the last day.

During the Hanukkah the Jewish families sing songs and eat special foods. The food will often be fried in oil, for example latkes (potato pancakes) or sufganiot (doughnuts).

Children may receive Hanukkah gelt (money gifts) or other gifts, often one for each evening of the festival.

Hanukkah is a post biblical festival. Work obligations are not cancelled on account of this festival, though often work is reduced.

Hanukkah starts on the 25th day of the Hebrew month of Kislev (from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar).

  5. I think 8 is mirror from 3. Like EЗ=8. 5+3=8. For instance here said that oxygene have 8 atoms. But before on the earth was be only nitrogene, which have own roots from the earth (earth is three). So oxygene is successor of nitrogene, which passed throught hot moment of five, it is acid…… But it is even numbers, even numbers is bad (two is death for example). So i don’t know why chineses are happy there with that number…….

  7. Here is an extremely scary point. The Sumerian culture used the number 6. While we look for a perfect the Sumerian looked for a perfect 60. We have 60 seconds in a minute and 60 minutes in each hour because of them. That is NOT the weird part. When you take the number 6 and add it to each letter of the alphabet A-6, B-12 and so on to Z-156 and add words together you get weird results. New York, helicopter, and computer all equal 666 BUT THAT IS NOT THE SCARY part! Add up Donald J. Trump and you will get 888…. now THAT is a freakshow!

    • sumerians = semits, they explore davide star which 6edges. They sometimes before were be whites, but on the sun they devided self own dna. So it is 100% carbone (6 atoms)…… Settings about 60 second in one minute, i think developed sumerians……. Saxons (sax-six) are successors of sumerians, they isn’t pure whites……..

  10. The doctrine of Scientology also reveres the number eight:
    – The highest level of attainment is Operating Thetan Level 8.
    – Level 7 is defined as the attainment of “CAUSE OVER LIFE”, while
    – Level 8 or TRUTH REVEALED “addresses the primary cause of amnesia on the whole track and lets one see the truth of his own existence. This is the first actual Operating Thetan level and brings about a resurgence of power and native abilities for the being himself.”

  13. Good day,

I have reference to a “co-incidence” which points numbers in demonology, the apple cut in half which holds an 8 figure, and they both ate of the forbidden fruit – which is portrayed as an apple – Newton and his infatuation of the number 8 and gravity dipicted by falling apple..
I only started looking at it because I remember hearing of a universal seal which existed simply by the number eight, which no spirit or demon can break – needless to say – it works.

Amazing..mythology in demonology says that if you cut an apple in half “the reminiscence of old sin” (adam & eve) that you MUST throw the other half out the door..as it chases all evil after the “falling half of the eight” and away from thee.

  14. Aug. 26,1970, 7:01am 4/8’s … Aug=8 / 2+6=8, / 1+9+7=8, / 7+1=8, which is also ∞∞∞∞
As a child, I ate only in this sequence of 4, (being the lowest, preferably 8,, after that(depending on which I ate, ie cookies, candies, etc), 16,32,64, to do otherwise, (which I let not Happen) felt as if it was… ‘unlucky’.
To this day, I still stick w/these numbers,& found only in resent yrs (more so, when I was 44, 4+4= 8), that this was a pattern, in almost all things. In my coffee, I take an XL=(40) Double Couple (DC=600) 8 Sugars, 4 Cream, 4 Ice.. Heh. IVERS, my Birth Last Name, (forwards, Roman Numerically is 4eR’s backwards, from Right,6)
8, in half, is both 00, & E3, (33?) We are Governed By Numbers(even in our words)There is No Escape From This Path…
Weird Right? Nah… It Is, What It Is
